The firm of Flaherty Salmin CPAs located on Buffalo Road in Rochester, was formed in 1998. Each of the partners worked in “Big 4” international firms or other large firms prior to joining Flaherty Salmin. The firm takes pride in providing its clients with the knowledge, experience and technical capabilities of the largest firms but with increased attention to service at competitive prices.
Flaherty Salmin is a full service professional firm of Certified Public Accountants serving national Affordable Housing clients, Rochester area businesses, and a large portfolio of individual clients. The firm is currently ranked as the 11th largest CPA Firm in the Rochester Area by the Rochester Business Journal’s CPA Firm listing. They were recognized in 2016 and 2017 as a Top Work Place in Rochester by the Democrat and Chronicle. They believe their success is due in large part to adherence to their mission statement and firm values which are to enhance the professional and personal lives of their clients and staff.
They believe that a successful relationship with an accountant goes far beyond and audit or tax return that is a “once a year” event, but rather that an accounting firm should have continuous contact with its clients throughout the year. This type of relationship fosters trust and keeps the firm informed of the important issues affecting clients.
Their accounting services include audits, bookkeeping and consulting projects. Their tax services include tax return preparation, tax planning, tax representation and sales tax. They offer consulting, including business acquisition and sales succession and estate planning, and management advisory services. Their firm is enhanced by Prime Global, an international association of independent accounting firms that provides access to information and experience that a stand-alone firm cannot match.
Flaherty Salmin believes in the importance of community involvement and staff is encouraged to participate with community organizations. They are active members of the Chamber. John Norton is a board member of the CDS Wolf Foundation and the firm is the title sponsor of CDS Wolf Foundation’s Strikes for Abilities bowling tournament and participates in the Tee Off for Abilities golf tournament. John is a member of the Leadership Council at the United Church of Christ.
