The Webster Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce, Ms. Ty-Quasia Reid, owner of Rising Earth Massage in Webster as the Chamber’s 2015 Business Person of the Year. The presentation was made on Friday, January 30th at the Chamber’s monthly breakfast meeting. “ The Webster Chamber and our community are extremely fortunate to have Ty Reid as a business leader and active participate in the success of our Chamber. Her commitment to the Chamber, her family and church, and our community is amazing – her enthusiasm and joy for life and her work make her a business leader to watch and emulate. Ty-Quasia Reid is the kind of businessperson the Chamber envisioned when we began this annual recognition in 2005” .
The “ Business Person of the Year” is someone who is recognized as having set a standard of accomplishment in both business and the community. Nominations are from the Chamber’s business members who have made a significant impact on the role of business in the community. The nominee must be a member of the Chamber for at least 18 months; must be an active member who is always willing to go above and beyond, a leader that motivates others; and they must have a level of community participation by contributing resources in the form of time, talent, money, etc. to the community via projects, clubs, churches, and not-for-profits.
This year the Chamber Board of Directors had a number of nominees for this honor – the selection process included several outstanding candidates and the Board thinks the large number of nominees is a testament to the community commitment we see in the Webster Chamber membership.
Ms. Reid is a successful business owner, a mother, a youth advocate and mentor, a contributor of time, talent and money to a variety of causes and organizations. She is an active, committed chamber member whose involvement has furthered the Chamber’s mission and its ongoing success in the Webster community.
Reid is New York State Licensed as well as Nationally Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Body Work. In 2008, Ty opened Rising Earth Massage and began to build an extensive client list that includes a large percentage of repeat therapy sessions and customers from Webster and the surrounding communities.
After receiving her first massage as a birthday gift over 20 years ago, Ty-Quasia Reid was awakened by the power of touch. It was then that her passion for wanting to share the gift of touch was born.
When the chance at a new career presented itself, Reid took a huge leap of faith and enrolled in the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage. While studying at Onondaga, she attended hands on seminars that introduced her to the phenomenal power of healing through Essential Oils, learning that “ the gift of touch and essential oils are a perfect marriage.” Reid then studied Holistic Aromatherapy at the New York Institute of Aromatherapy. Her practice today includes Raindrop Technique, Deep Tissue, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Sports and Hot Stone Massage.
Reid is currently on the Chamber Board of Directors, sits on the Membership Committee and served on the Chamber’s 80th Anniversary Gala Committee.
She is a contributor of time, talent or financial support to the YMCA Invest in Youth Campaign, the Relay for Life, the Dream Factory, the Complex Regional Pain Syndrome fundraiser, the Rochester Career Mentoring Character School, a YEA CEO Roundtable participant, Hands for Heroes, Women helping Girls, Webster PTSA, Strong Nurse’s Week and contributes to silent auctions with gift cards and sessions to benefit organizations and community causes.
Ms. Reid serves on the Media and Offering Ministries at the In Christ New Hope Ministry and participates in the Daughters of Virtue and Excellence Woman’s Expo in her church. She is a member of Associated Massage and Bodywork Professionals. “ Ty-Quasia’s ongoing contribution to the Chamber and to the Webster community represents her commitment and dedication to her family, her business, and to the Chamber and its members. Her enthusiasm and upbeat attitude, her strong ethical approach to business and relationships, and the joy for life and work make her an excellent nominee – she clearly helps make Webster a Community of Choice and the place where life is worth living.”
Ms. Reid was presented with an engraved plaque with the inscription: “ 2015 Business Person of the Year presented to Ty-Quasia Reid in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the Chamber and her commitment to the Webster community” .
