Skylight Signs
Skylight Signs was formed by Frank Cleere and Michael Bonanno in 2002 after the collapse of one of the largest sign companies on the East Coast. Frank was the head of estimating and production, and Mike was in sales. They formed an alliance with a balance between sales and production to create Skylight, which now has 12 employees. Jim joined the team 8 years ago after “peddling’ Wonder Bread and Twinkies for Hostess for 20 years.
Skylight designs, manufactures, installs, and services signage for any kind of business that values identity as its life blood. They value creating long-lasting, trusting relationships with their valued customers. Jim enjoys the challenge, creativity, and hard work that goes into the process – from signing the customer to getting permits, and finally seeing the finished product. “A business with no sign, is a sign of no business!”
Eighteen years ago, the sales team – also known as Mike Bonanno – was working hard to acquire one of the largest, local grocery stores as a customer. On one of his daily calls to the chain, he was told about one of the letters in a sign being out, and the company they were then working with would get there sometime within the week. The customer asked Mike if there was any way Skylight could take a look sooner. Fate had one of their service teams just finishing a job across the street from the problem sign and were in the parking lot repairing it within five minutes. Today, Skylight treats Wegmans as they did then – with great customer service and speedy response times.
In addition to being an active member of the Webster Chamber of Commerce, Skylight also participates with the Henrietta, Gates, Greece, and Brighton Chambers of Commerce.
On a side note, can you guess their favorite song? “Signs” written by the Five Man Electrical Band in 1970 and redone by the rock group Tesla in 1986.
Congratulations to Jim and Skylight Signs as the Webster Chamber of Commerce’s October 2021 Business of the Month!
