Ken started the family-owned Computer Works Pro in 2001 as a part-time business for some extra income and it grew into a full-time business in 2002. They opened their first storefront in 2011 and moved to their current location at 696 Ridge Road in Webster in 2016.
Computer Works Pro specializes in computer sales, service, and repair of all types of computers. They are an HP B2B partner and sell the HP Business Class line of computers. They can build custom computers specifically for your needs and also have extensive experience building and repairing gaming computers. In addition to their storefront, Ken and his team – Kris, Katy, and Mike – provide on-site professional IT services for local businesses, home computer services, and wireless networking services. The have provided personal computer training, which has sadly been on hold since the beginning of the pandemic.
Ken says the best part about this business is getting to help people every single day and no two days are the same. He feels like they are the firemen of the computer industry. People generally only call Computer Works Pro when they’re having a computer emergency and they get to figure out how to resolve it, which provides a huge challenge Ken loves.
In addition to being an active member of the Webster Chamber of Commerce, Computer Works Pro has provided free computer systems and consulting labor to several not-for-profit organizations through the years.
The number one horror story Ken and his team deal with on a daily basis is data backups – or should I say the lack thereof! People often bring their computer in when it no longer functions properly and many times it is because the hard drive if failing. Many people do not have a recent backup and are distraught over the thought of losing their important files. Computer Works Pro can send the drive out for forensic recovery which can cost up to $1000. The average user is not prepared to spend that much money. The moral of this story is to make sure you are backing up your files!
Congratulations to Ken and Computer Works Pro as the Webster Chamber of Commerce’s November 2021 Business of the Month!
