Business Person of the Year Nominations
The “Business Person of the Year” will be someone who is recognized as having set a standard of accomplishment in both business and the community. Nominations for the recognition are coordinated by the Chamber’s Member Services Committee. We encourage you to participate in the nomination process. Please review the criteria and nominate one or more business members who have made a significant impact on the role of business in our community. The nomination selection is based on the following criteria:
1. Must be a Business Member in good standing of the Webster Chamber of Commerce for at least 18 months.
2. Must be an active Chamber member, someone who is always willing to go above and beyond what is expected; a leader that motivates others to achieve a specific goal.
3. Community Participation – Nominee must have donated resources (time, talent, money, etc.) to the community via projects, clubs, church, etc.
The winner of the “Business Person of the Year” award will receive special recognition at the Chamber’s January 2022 breakfast, will receive publicity in the Chamber’s newsletter and in the local press. This is the 17th year for this prestigious award.

New York Paid Family Leave Benefit Level and Premium Rate Updates Announced for 2022
Once again, the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) updated its Paid Family Leave (PFL) employee premium rate and benefit level information for 2022.
For 2022, the PFL benefit level will remain at 67% of an employee’s wages for up to 12 weeks. However, the statewide average weekly wage will increase from $1,450.17/week to $1,594.57/week. This means that the maximum PFL benefit in 2022 will be $1,068.36/week (up from $971.61/week in 2021).
Additionally, although the employee premium rate will remain at 0.511% of gross wages, the maximum annual employee contribution will be capped at $423.71/year (up from $385.34/year in 2021).

To prepare for the 2022 changes, employers will want to coordinate with their payroll providers to make sure that the new employee contribution cap will be applied beginning January 1, 2022. To the extent any written employment policy documents include the specific PFL benefit or deduction levels, employers will also need to consider updating this information for 2022.
