Barry's Column
Flag Day is June 14th. The Flag was established by the Second Continental Congress in 1777, on June 14th, by resolution that said, “the flag of the United States be 13 stripes, alternate red and white,” and that “the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.” The anniversary of the establishment of the flag wasn’t officially celebrated until 100 years later, in 1916, when President Woodrow Wilson marked the anniversary of that decree by officially establishing June 14 as Flag Day. It seems, like many other things, that Flag Day doesn’t really get “celebrated” as much as it might have been in the past. So, if you are inclined, celebrate the anniversary of the Stars and Stripes any way you wish!
There were over 30 Webster Chamber members that have been recognized as winners in the Rochester Business Journal / Daily Record 2021 Reader Rankings/ Check it out in the newsletter and on our website. Several members won in various categories! Congratulations to them all. Once again, Webster Chamber members shine!
Our June Breakfast – June 25th – in person at the Parks & Recreation Center will include honoring our businesses that are celebrating longevity milestone anniversary years. This includes businesses that are celebrating 25 years or more (in 5-year increments: 25, 30, 35, 40, etc.) in either 2020 or 2021 (we couldn’t honor the 2020 anniversaries in 2020 due to gathering restrictions). Please join us in celebrating these business success stories. Make a reservation for breakfast today!
Now that we are back to in person breakfast meetings, the Program Committee, responsible for arranging a 15–20-minute presentation at breakfast, is gearing back up. If you would like to help on that committee, please call the office and I will include you on the next meeting schedule.
We have already transitioned from complaining about the cold to complaining about the heat so remember to take care in the summertime. Be careful, be watchful, and plan ahead. The excitement of the summer days, the fun in and on the water, and the parties and barbecues all have to be crammed into a few short weeks! Safety is a number one priority for yourself and your family – behave responsibly and enjoy the summer!

Their business transforms and evolves alongside the community they serve. NOCO has always been on the forefront of innovative energy technologies, and they continue to supply and invest in sustainable energy solutions that promote a healthier environment and support their local community and economy.
One of the things Tina likes personally and is why she chooses to work at NOCO is they take care of their customer, but also take care of their employees. This became evident and shined during the pandemic. The local, family business with longevity and integrity (ethical in their industry and customer service focused) is aligned with her core values.
NOCO has a long-standing commitment to the communities they serve. Their 300+ employees are encouraged and supported while they are active in the community. NOCO also sponsors numerous local endeavors, such as park clean-up days, food drives, sports teams, and community blood drives.
NOCO’s legacy of investing in innovative energy solutions remains part of their core company vision as they continually add sustainable energy technologies to their product offerings.
Please join us in congratulating Tina and the team at NOCO Natural Gas & Electric as the Chamber’s June 2021 Business of the Month.

Q&A: Today’s Car Buying Challenges
Thinking of buying a car, truck or SUV?
How will the price increase in the Used market and the chip shortage affect your buying strategy?
We hear on the national news that the Used vehicle prices are up 10%. And during COVID, automotive chip manufacturing was halted for a period of time, which has created a present-day shortage.
Just for Webster Chamber members, Randy Henderson and Don Chaffin from Henderson Ford will avail themselves on Zoom to answer car buying questions you may have at this point in time. It is an opportunity to converse about car buying, minus a 'sales agenda!'
Tuesday, July 20th, from 11:45 am - 12:15 pm.
